Stability of base

Both images will be connected by means of stereo metric camera conditions. Which equations are to be established depends on the SMES statement. The standard deviations of the SMES statement are valid for all stereo metric camera conditions.

If a base connection is used, an eccentricity vector (ex , ey , ez ) is automatically included in the list of unknowns for both cameras. Approximate values of these vectors must be read in for both cameras by means of an ECCA statement. The camera names of both photos must be different.

In many cases the base length of the stereo metric camera is well-known. Divided into the components ex, ey and ez half of the base will be assigned to each camera under consideration of the signs (ECCA statement). The base is defined in the image space and rotates together with the images; however it must have the unit of measure of the object space. The precision of the base length is to be defined by means of an ECES statement (see also Section 2.1.2.3).

Stereo metric camera conditions should be applied only if the photos have been taken by a stereo metric camera with synchronous release, or if the cameras are standing on a stable station point.

Alternative:

To facilitate the use of the stereo metric camera condition a simplified input alternative was created. This possibility shall only be applied for real stereo metric cameras like SMK or similar! The base length may be defined in the first SMCO statement without use of the ECES and ECCA statements (see above). However this input is only once allowed for each camera.
