If the standard deviation s of the measured value is missing, then that of the preceding coordinate difference is applied.
Coordinate differences in X and Y are of special importance for alignment of objects to certain coordinate directions. Coordinate differences in Z are used to introduce levelled elevation differences and for formulation of local vertical control networks. In addition, coordinate differences are applied for the definition of perpendicular lines, straight lines and planes parallel to the axes of the coordinate system (see also Section 9.4).
