3.5 Names for points, photos and cameras

Point names, photo names and camera names are independent from each other. Thus a certain point P1, a photo P1 and a camera P1 may be processed simultaneously.

For all point names, photo names and camera names up to 15 characters are allowed.

It is recommended to reserve the point names 1 to n for the numbering the fiducial marks (reseau points) with n being the number of fiducial marks.

1 - 8	fiducial marks
100 - 10 000	signalised points
10 000 - 20 000	well defined, not signalised points
20 000 - 30 000	points of lower quality such as, for example, roof corners or street drains.
Example for point numbering ranges

For image measurements, we recommend grouping points of different quality in different ranges of point names. Such a procedure simplifies data processing (see GRUP statement Section 5.4).
