BINGO 5.2 patch a - August 2005
This page describes BINGO as it existed at the stated release date. For current behavior and requirements, use the current Manual, Reference, and Guides.
Programs BBMAN, ReadPipe and 3dViewG
A new program ″PipeReader″ has been added to the BINGO manager’s menu /Run/. This small program has been introduced temporarily and only for testing and demonstration purposes for system developers. Starting the 3DViewG before launching REPLO or before launching the 3D graphics program 3DViewG (graphics window) from 3dViewM (main with GUI for file selection), this program can display data coming from REPLO or 3DViewG via pipe.
An important property of a pipe is that only one program can read from the pipe, and only one program can write to the pipe at the same time. A second program trying to open a pipe for writing has to wait until the prior application has closed the pipe. Thereforee launching REPLO or 3DViewG has to be done with great care, if the PipeReader is active.
The middle mouse button can be used in both programs to send data to the pipe.
In REPLO a green cross will be set into the graphics window to show the transferred location. One instance of REPLO can be started with several graphics windows. You may click into any of these windows in any sequence.
Only one instance of 3DViewG may be started from 3dViewM to use the pipe. Transferring coordinates to the pipe is only possible, if ″Perspective from Z″ is selected in the graphics’ GUI. There is no graphical presentation of those points yet, because the program has not yet the function to add the height for those points.
Program 3DViewG offers a second possibility: A point or photo ID which is currently selected and its ID is shown in a pop-up window, can be sent as well to the pipe by holding the left Control (Ctrl) or Alt button of the keyboard down when pressing the middle mouse button. This function is independent from the selected perspective.
A new accelerator key function has been added to the BINGO manager’s and the 3DViewG windows: An area highlighted in the output windows can be copied with ″Ctrl C″ to the clipboard.
Program 3dViewG
There are many enhancements to the new graphics program:
Start-up time for large blocks is now considerably faster.
The speed of the program has been enhanced considerably for smooth operation with large data sets.
Tooltip help has been added (selectable).
The presentation of the ellipses has been enhanced.
A new button allows changing the line width to ″bold″. This is especially useful for presentations.
Holding the left Ctrl or Alt button down, the sensitivity of all objects on screen is temporarily switched off. Nothing can be selected; any existing selection cannot be changed. (The Alt button might toggle the cursor and the sensitivity. Thereforee the Ctrl button is recommended.)
There is an enhanced library salflibc.dll to allow tooltip help for all items on screen.
