Select automatically measured data for bundle adjustment

Automatic triangulation programs sometimes provide too many points per photo, and their distribution may vary considerably across a block. Several points with different numbers may also have identical photo coordinates. SAMBA identifies and corrects these problems according to user-defined settings. The program handles fiducial marks and preserves control-point photo measurements.

Any unit of measure might be used in the photo coordinate file image.dat.

Click Format to estimate the photo format automatically for each camera.

The distance for recognition of identical points should fit to the used unit of measure.

The search areas in the photos can be divided into 3 × 3 or 5 × 5 sections. The size of these areas depends on the photo format. With 5 × 5 sections, the color-code table allows different sections to have different numbers of points after thinning. With 3 × 3 sections, only one setting is available for all nine areas.

Points are reduced in the following order: identical points are identified and removed first, followed by one-ray points and then points with two, three, four, five, and more rays. This sequence retains the points with the best connections in the data set.

SAMBA processes all photos in the image coordinate file, regardless of point or photo selections in the project file.

A report of removed and remaining points appears in the BINGO Manager window. SAMBA does not affect the image coordinate file directly, so you can run it several times in succession until the report shows a satisfactory result.

Obsolete photo measurements are written to the SKIP file. Depending on the Remove obsolete points from file setting, SKIP either removes these measurements from the file or marks them with *. After running SAMBA, click SKIP to apply the latest SAMBA result to the image coordinate file.

After using this tool, identical points are removed and an even distribution of points is guaranteed. The computation time and the effort for error detection can be greatly reduced.

Default values

To reset all parameters, select Settings > Set Parameter Defaults.
